i've got a myson apollo boiler (standard system) that won't fire-up when activated from the electronic timer. No hot water or heat to radiators. The pilot light stays on (a yellow ish colour) but does little else. I've had a few cowboys come round and recommend a whole new system without defining the problem. Looking for some advice.

Check the "go" signal is getting through to the boiler first then check the mfrs instructions (From Baxi) for the lighting sequence. Does yours have a fan and does it start? There is an odd problem with the pump overrun stat not resetting on some of these boilers. It's getting on a bit and gets seriously dangerous if not checked very carefully (case seals) but there are heaps of them still working fine.
