Mystery Shower Piece

Hi all,

First many thanks to all who contribute to this forum. Your invaluable help has enabled me to diagnose my flooding shower has having blown a pressure relief device. Below is a lic of the outlet pipe showing the ball missing from the prd! Its a gainsborough 8.5v Stanza btw

However when i opened the shower to hace an initial look this piece fell out inatrached to anything.

This is a mystery to me. Shower seems to flow without it. Anybidy on this greay forum have any idea what it is?

It looks like it could fit where the filter housing goes, but why it would is anybodies guess as it is not in the MIs.

My guess would be that is there to flush he pipe work prior to commissioning. If I'm right, what a good idea from Gainsborough.

My guess is pressure test point for fault diagnosis.

It still doesn't explain why it's so long though.

You can test the pressure at the outlet, the long bit is for connecting a hosepipe to - just guessing
