That's what they seem to be suggesting. Nobody is my immediate area is going to accept that. We're already fuming about the extortionate increases in council tax in the last few years -- The idea that DIYers will pay£70.50 council fees for a job which takes £10 of DIY materials is quite absurd.

When are these councils going to get it through their heads that it is their job to satisfy themselves that the Building Regs have been adhered to. The whole point of the non-self-certified, notification-to-BC route is that the person commissioning the works cannot provide a certificate.

Whether they inspect & test themselves or sub it is up to them, and what they charge if they decide to sub it is up to them, but there is nothing in the new version of the Building Regs which says that the person who notifies controlled work must also provide a certificate.

Probably about the same time they remember that they are public servants and not petty dictators.
