how does it work?
do i insert behind the existing vent?
how do i then close it?
i just dont get why the world hasnt thought of having a closable 4 inch vent - different to the ones that have big massive flaps.
i must be missing something here

Okay undertsood now.
You have a room with a 4" duct fan in one wall, and a 4" hole in the other wall.
You want to mechanically control the flow of air through the 4" hole.
I think/presume that you are looking for a 4" / 100mm Grill vent that you can manually open and close. in the 4" hole But I have never seen one of these. Presumable because manufacturers thin that you would never have a fan infront of a closer that you could manually close when fan was on (perhaps overheating the fan).
Tiger,
Nice looking product.
But I expect it is not suitable for OP without some modification to his Vent pipe, as it has a 102mm outer diameter, and so the screw holes will fall inside his 4"/102mm diameter vent pipe.

thanks for replies guys.
think the metal circle might do it.
but i think i'll just go for a big vent.
still think its crazy there is no 4 inch closable vent.
@^woody^ thanks mate - but i need a 4 inch closable vent. i'll use what u suggested anyway easiest solution i think.
