as above looking to make my old back boiler redundant ,

reason is that i have had a new central heating system installed , that has made the old coal fire back burner no longer usable ,

since this has been done the contractors did not drill the old back boiler ,
instead they left the pipes open up at the hot tank

now the fun bit , i have installed a insert stove into the old fire , problem i now have is that when i have the stove lit the stove is bleeding some heat into the backboiler , causing the boiler to blow steam of up at the hot tank where the back boiler,s pipes have been disconected ,

so im looking to remove as much as possible water from the back boiler , and also make sure the boiler will never be used again ,

where do i drill ? or can i drain from the pipes at the side of the fire ?
i have uploaded pics to help ( if more pics needed let me know )

thanks ryan

thanks for the reply , i will be removing it when i have funds to replace the fireplace , but in the meantime where do i drill to completley disable the boiler ,

and drain whatever water is left in it ,

Did the same with mine several years ago. I just cut the pipes and let it boil out and never removed it. To much bother to remove it and its still there should I wish to re-connect it.

cheers norcon , did you replace with a inset stove ?

also what pipes do i disconect

the last pic has the drain valve in it, use a bit of hose into a bucket or tub and drain off as much water as possible, once open and drained, drill some 6mm holes in the boiler to stop any pressure building up from the heat, any risidual water will soon heat up and burn off

I sliced the two big ones with a pipe cutter which is the gravity circuit.
You've a drain on the injector T so you can drain from there.
It stank the house out for a few weeks I must admit so be prepared for that.

I replaced it with nothing. Its still in place with big open inefficient raging log fires.
