Mandela didn't incite thousands of others to indiscriminately kill innocent civilians by the use of nail bombs in shopping centres/pubs etc.

The ANC resorted to violence as a final last resort when the white government legislated that peaceful demonstrating would be classed as a high punishable crime. (Only if you were black of course but then that bit wasn't actually put in writing).
