Hi

Bloke coming out this week to quote for new bathroom. We are quite restricted and will probably be limited to replacing bath, WC and washbasin with new units.

We currently have electric shower but would like to replace with power shower but this would mean extending the plumbing for hot and cold bath taps so that new shower can replace electric one in same location (i.e bath taps currently at window end and electric shower at wall end etc etc) Ideally we would also like new walk in shower but don't have room unless we take some room from adjacent bedroom (currently son's bedroom and only 9 foot by 9 foot)

All other things being equal:

Is it fairly straightforward to plumb a new power shower in these circumstances?

Is it feasible to move into the bedroom to create the space for a walk in shower?

Some of my freinds have used this guy and he's supposed to be good but pricey. All other things being equal could you give me a ball park estimate for the job just involving replacing existing fittings (medium quality) and installing the new shower.

Many thanks for your time.

Anything is possible if you want to spend the money.

The only one who can really advise you properly is the installer who visits to quote.

Gas4u is correct as we cannot see the run from your hwc and cws to be pumped.
Also what power services are available to run the pump etc.
The power shower alone could set you back easily £600+ to include pump, surrey flange, piping, electrics.

If the guy is good then I would expect to pay more than an unknown/untested installer.
You pay extra for his good work and reputation which I am sure he wants to keep.

We price each indivudual item from removing the existing suite to fixing the shower screen so you can see where your money is being spent.

Also I take the same care and pride in fitting a £300 suite from the sheds as I do with installing a £3000 specialist suite, they all have to supply hot and cold and take the waste away.

Thanks again.

Will see what the bloke says when he comes up. Perhaps I will report back then if I smell a rat.

Hi

Have now had quote for new bathroom:

1. Remove existing suite and tile
2. Make good walls for tiling
3. Plaster skim ceiling including 6 spot lights
4. Carry out plumbing work for shower, shower bath, semi recess basin, back to wall WC and heated towel rail
5. Fit new shower bath
6. Fit fixed furniture effect for WC and basin
7. Fully tile all walls floor to ceiling
8. Lay elite flooring
9. Fit shower valve and screen after tiling

Price includes labour, bath,, taps, chinaware shower valve, shower screen, lights, flooring, all materials, tiles, at £10 per sq yard (not including a border tile) The price does not include the multirail.

Total cost £3,586.

Please note that we will also be having acombi boiler and thats a different job.

All other things being equal does this sound kosher?

(Incidentally, I assume "shower valve" is all the fittings for the new shower)

Many thanks for your time

Longshanks
