Just a quick question, is there any reason why I can't put a timber floor on battens on top of the concrete slab in our extension?

I was going to screed it but because of a ****e builder I am going to need 100mm of screed in places, also the shower base that we have chosen is a slimline type and the only way I can think of to get to the waste is to fit a wooden floor.

Any tips / suggestions greatly appreciated.

Forest - no reason at all, we've been using this method for over 30 years. Use the search function above as I've posted before on how to do this. Any problems post again & I'll supply details.

100mm screed is not a problem, unless it is a massive floor!

plus, it will allow you more tolerance for the shower waste. it may only mean having to just just hollow out a bit of the floor slab.
