New Cast Iron Gutter Leaking

I think having a leaking gutter is the last of your worries............how is it being held up???

Also in the first picture it looks like there is rotten timber behind the facia.

The join from neighbours plastic to our cast is ok ... Fingers crossed, that piece was ok so was re painted. It's the new joints that are the problem...

Not sure whether it was tall enough, but think access was the issue, we have a two storey extension below.

Hello again Rachel,

So your wondering what to do!!!

Well your photos and explanation strongly points to the fact that the gutter certainly does not appear to be correctly fitted and someone needs to do a site inspection.

Leaks, possible incorrect fall, none or inadequate brackets or fixings is wrong and poor access is no excuse for a poor job and it has to be rectified.

If you have not paid him for this work don't, just get someone else to redo it.
If you have paid him, you still have to rectify the problem so ask for your money back so you can get another tradesman in to put it right.
If he does not return your money you can start a small claim through the County Court.
If he is half genuine the threat of CC action should spur him to act. If he's a real cowboy you can basically write it off as one of those things because even slapping him with a CCJ may not get you your money back.

If you are happy to have him back to put it right, write to him giving him the option to put it right, but you are not legally bound to have him back as he has deceived you by saying the tilth will stop the leaks so he cannot be trusted.

All the best Steve.
