Hi,

as part of our kitchen refurb, we're removing the suspended ceiling that is currently in place, and installing new plasterboard about 50cm higher.

We plan to use the same lights and wiring - do we need to get an electrician to perform this, or can a competent diyer do this without falling foul of the Part P regs?

Thanks
Tony

Technically no, however in reality, if you are not actually altering the wiring who is to know.

All you will be doing is removing and refitting a light fitting, the rest of the cabling will be left as is I assume anyway.
