New house with alarm, prev owner left no info (1)

Hi,
looking for help new house has a Flex050 alarm system Honeywell i think, it was with an alarm company....rather expensive, i would like to configure it for self use, it had a phone line connected this was on a contract which has been cancelled since then there is a speaker box by front door which beeps all the time the keypad which i think must be the control also beeps, we dont know how to shut it up or reset it so i cut one wire to the speaker which has helped.

We eventually turned its power off and then opened the metal box and disconnected its battery, where do i go from here, I am competent with electric and electronics to a reasonable degree.

I would like to look after it myself if this is possible where do i start. Any help gratefully taken.
