Morning all i have just laid a new law from seed 3 weeks ago,my m8 says i should roll it sometime this week before i even think about cutting it he reckons this thickens it up better. any advice please ?

Agreed - a roller should only be used by a skilled greenkeeper. If the lawn base has been prepared properly, once the grass has established itself, then it should be firm enough.
