Clue: one of those cables is the drop to the switch. That means that one of those blacks will actually be alive when the pullcord is closed.
This is why the switch has jammed and the fuse blown, because with the switch closed, there is a dead short between line & neutral.
These cables need to be correctly made off in an enclosure, preferably crimped as the joint may not be accessible in the future.
And the switch needs replacing.
