Hi,

Just purchased new ceiling light, the new light has blue wire(neutral) brown (live) the choc block also has a block for earth but there is no actual green and yellow earth wire, but the earth block doeas all appear to be attached to the metal light fitting via a peaice of metal coming from the block, just confused as there is no yellow/green wire, is this the norm for new fittings?

Cheers,

nice one, thanks, just wanted to make sure as never seen an earthed fitment without the green/yellow wire before.

cheers,

If they can connect the metalwork of the fitting directly to the terminal block, they will do. It's cheaper.

It also doubles up as a way of the makers fixing the terminal block rather than leaving it loose in the fitting.
sometimes its easier to unatach from the metal hook, terminate your supply wires then refit the block onto the metal hook

Thirded. It's when the terminals are glued to that silly little bit of cardboard that winds me up!
