Our old, large and heavy SP mower has really had it, well past its best and ready for the skip. We downsized house and garden a few years back so we just need a small mower BUT I now have a dodgy shoulder so the replacement machine must be self-propelled as the small lawn is inclined. Was thinking about a battery/cordless mower but small and SP.
I have googled away but not really found what I need so any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
The alternative would be for a petrol mower but with the electric push-start , not the recoil pull ! Again small and SP.
Thanks

i had researched replacing my Honda Izy - which is now working OK
I found the EGO range worth a look, in fact best for me, looking at lots of youtube videos, with comparisons
and have a local specialist garden tool/repair centre that sell EGO
this is the one i shortlisted 52cm - interesting only just found the site and videos - good reviews
replacing an 18" izy 46cm

i also considered the smaller 47cm

there is also a 42CM

this is the video i watched

but there is a 2024 version out , which i have not watched, dont think the EGO is represented in this test

I'm not really into electric stuff (yet) but a neighbour has just bought a Stihl RMA 443.
It looks to be a good bit of kit, but pretty expensive.
His main moan is that it didn't come with a charger or spare battery but I can't comment on that one.
John :)

the VC - is the self propelled model, I looked into those as i have a few stihl tools, battery extendable hedge trimmer , with the AP200 battery - which i did not think was large enough to cover my lawn area , and worked out very expensive , also from my local dealer was on backorder ( i had the hedge trimmer on back order and it took 6mths to arrive)
cant remember why it did not go on shortlest at the time, maybe availability , maybe something in the reviews, we have a stihl dealer locally , where i purchased petrol streamer, petrol chainsaw , battery hedge trimmer
stihl seems to be also doing a deal on battery (till june24) , if you buy an AP200 or AP300 & charger with lawnmower, they will give another battery free

It's worth looking at what battery range you already have, or what other tools you plan on buying?

Or mains corded? You might not need self propelled if the mower is light enough in the first place? A petrol mower with electric start will be a heavy beast.

Stihl seem to be discontinuing the smaller AP batteries in favour of the 300S and 500S which have bluetooth connectivity that through their app give all sorts of info on runtimes, service data etc,
this may be why they are giving away smaller batteries.
Previous to this there was a Smart connector which sent info from any running motor within range to the app no matter the brand to give the total runtime, as well as how long the charge lasted .
I picked up an Rma443 and AP 300 battery locally on market place which was purchased at the end of last season and not used this.
It was bought to in case my, going into its 4th season and no longer available Parkside 36v mower, packed in.
