Hi all
I am currently in a rented chalet bungalow with a very old CH system. As I am told by a BG engineer, both the CH & HW are gravity fed. I have a Glowworm Hideaway boiler controlled by an very old Potterton (1964) programmer and a old Satchwell bi-metal coil type thermostat in the hall. As the system is very basic and old, I do not seem to have very much control over it. In general, it seems I can only either have all the system ON or all the system OFF. As I am only a tenant, I am unable to change the CH system but I am considering fitting a digital room thermostat and a more up to date programmer. The change of thermostat is only to give me more temperature accuracy and reliablity. The change in programmer is only to give me more on/off options during the course of the day/week. It would be only to save money on fuel costs rather than to improve the whole system. Can anyone shed any light on whether the changes I would like to make are possible and would work or am I wasting my time.
Thanks
Mark
