New router

Hi all , i have been sent a new router and filters from my broadband provider as mine is playing up , my question is what do i have to do to link the new router to my laptop ? many thanks mark

Depends who your service provider is. With talktalk they set it up for you and all you do is plug it in.

Switch on router first and then boot PC and the PC will normally request a number from router and auto set it's self up.

However if you want security then you may need to enter some numbers. There are many ways and each router is slightly different.

It should be the same as when you set up your original router.

Go onto your ISP website and search for 'Internet setup instructions'.
All ISPs have sections on how to connect their routers to the internet, several sections if they use several different routers.

set up , as you probably guessed i am a bit of a technophobe ...

You should get a LAN cable with it - I would think you need to connect by wire first to get the setup done...
