I have searched for this, but cannot find a reply.

I have a open vented central heating/hot water system.

the boiler is one side of the house, the hot water tank is the other, the pipe runs between the floors (6ft vertical, 24ft horizontal).

We have had intermittent hot water since we moved in, 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off, so have been using the immersion. However I now want to fix this. Is there any options other than
1. new combi system
2. move the boiler/tank
3. pump between the 2.

Are there any quick fixes (system of switching boiler on and off etc?)

converting to fully pumped would be best bet
