Put a coat on. Then tell us what type of boiler you have, as much info as possible helps.

Is the timer programmer working, ie have you got power to it? If not check the fuse in the fused outlet.

If ok, without wanting to patronise you, have you set the programmer and room stat to call for heat?

Does the boiler fire up for hot water setting?

Any further info would be a great help to us to help you.

Timer working & when I switch it to run all of the time the pump kicks in.
The boiler kicks in for about 30secs then a noise & it goes back to the pilot light & the pump gets v.hot. & starts to make strange unhealthy noise (like its overworking).
Tried bleeding it all include radiators but nothing think air maybe in somewhere??

Boiler is the same for heat & water setting ie fire up for secs before horrid noise.

PS Problem started when friend drilled through water pipe earlier.
Called out plumber to fix pipe & thats when the prob started.
Plumber said not his prob eventhough it worked before all of this started.

What pipe did your friend drill through, central heating related or feed to a tap ?

Sounds like there is either sludge or an airlock in the system. Have you tried draining down and re-filling the stsrem or bleeding the rads ?

it was pipe to radiator downstairs.
Boiler in kitchen downstairs but pump/watertank upstairs in airing cupboard.
Will try & drain again tomorrow - dont wana screw anything else up this time of night. Thanx 4 advice

That plumber sounds like an absolute beaut, how much did he charge you for not getting your heating back on?

When you bleed the rads upstairs does water come out freely?

Check you have water in the small tank in the loft. You then need to drain from a drain point under a rad and look in this tank to see if it is emptying and re-filling whilst you are draining.

If it isn't your cold feed is blocked. Search FAQs on fixing it.
