I have a Baxi Maxflow Combi WM. The diverter valve was replaced 1 year ago because the rads were on permanently when the system was trying to heat the hot water. About 2 months ago the boiler started making a brief hammering sound when the heating came on - the engineer stripped down the diverter valve, the sound stopped for 1 or 2 days, then started again. He couldn't explain why it was making the noise. It's now getting a bit more noticeable.
Questions:
Why does the valve make the hammering sound?
The valve is a Honeywell V4044C1783 - is this correct for this boiler?
Is the only answer a new valve?

Any help greatly appreciated - thanks.

Erm... not sure what the gas valve is, or if it's relevant!
It's an electrically operated valve that allows the gas supply to reach the burners and, where fitted, the pilot. It is not relevant to the problem you described at the start of this topic.
