Hi there
We have just had a new bathroom installed. A Salamander pump has been fitted to the whole water system, not just the shower and the bath, so that even going to the loo triggers the pump. The pump is extremely noisy and can be heard from every room in the house. 2 questions:
1. Surely the pump can be installed so that only the shower and bath and any high pressure taps trigger the pump, not the whole water system. Indeed, can it not be bad for appliances like washing machines to have high pressure water into them?
2. Any suggestions for reducing the noise of the pump? (It is currently resting on a carpet on top of wooden floorboards.)
Many thanks

does the pump pump both hot and cold then ?

is your cold not mains pressure ?

i dont know ur arrengement but pumped hot for bathroom only or whole house can be achieved

Yes, the pump is pumping both hot and cold. There is 1 tap in the house (kitchen sink) that is mains fed, everything else is via the pump.

Hi
I recently installed a single Salamander pump which pumps the whole hot water system, ours is standing on a polystyrene brick about 15 cm x 10 cm by 8cm high this reduced the noise considerably from having the pump sitting on a block of similarly sized wood which was screwed to the floor.

As for why you have a cold water pump, have you had a power shower fitted? If not ask the installer
