Noisy pump in AquaStream shower

Having removed an AquaStream power shower and retiled the bathroom,
I've re-installed it and it now it is incredibly noisy. It sounds like
there's a problem with the pump but it works fine, and didn't make any
noise before. I wondered if there was any way that an air-lock could be
causing it, but there's no way to bleed it. Anyone had any similar
experience ?.

Could there be a bit of grit whizzing round in there?
