Hi guys, I bought some Colours Non-Drip Satin in white and upon opening realised its solvent based as opposed to water based, I used it on a smaller project I was doing and I was very happy with the finish but the next thing I want to use it on is a table and I don't want it to yellow over time... I'll be spraying an acrylic dealer spray over it for added protection against scuffs so want to be sure it's unlikely to yellow opposed to its water based versions..

Has anyone used the product or familiar with it and know what it's like for yellowing?

Yellowing is a major problem with oil based paints do a search and you will find loads of hits.

White oil based paint yellows faster in dark areas and stays white longer in sunlight, so external painting like windows are less of a problem than say doors in a hallway.

If you want furniture to stay white water based is the way to go, but it is harder to get a brush stroke free finish than oil as the darn stuff tends to dry in no time!

Johnstones aqua range is about the best I have found.

Wipe the surface with a damp cloth before painting, use their own undercoat and work as fast as possible.

That's what I feared was going to be the response, it's just so difficult to get a decent finish with the water based paints and a brush isn't it!

Oh well I'll stay clear off the non-drip stuff then for the table, thanks

Maybe buy some white satin spray paint instead...
