non-working telephone extension socket

this old BT cable has wires coloured red, blue, yellow and black. How do I wire it up to the back of the socket? It used to work but the wires became loose. Hope someone can help. Fergi

Nah, the "old" GPO colours are orange, blue brown & green.

Sounds like 4C alarm cable... in which case, that may explain why it is not working!
