North Facing wall

Have a property in Bulgaria and we have just finished building an extention on the side.The North facing wall took a bit of hammer this winter as the temperatures plumited to -20

My Bulgarian builder has suggested polystirein panels acting as an insulation and rendering over the existing rendering

Seems a bit primitive to me is there anything on the market over here I can put to them like a silicone render or similar.

IF you can fix the polystyrene properly, then acrylic render with fibreglass mesh is propbably teh way to go - wouldn't call it primitive, though . A lot of UK architects are just starting to use systems like these
