have put the frighteners on some other councils (?) Cornwall for example need to cut spending by 35 million over the next 4 years.

Nearly half of this is going to be hacked from adult social care . (17 million)

The council has thriftily (;)) called in a firm of paper shufflers come pencil pushers (;))

Newton Europe

to ID where the axe can fall.

Its reward if it comes up with the full 17 million savings is the opportunity to trouser 4 million pounds .

Funny though there's always money to be found for their pensions and bonuses.

In my view the way councils are run and operated needs complete reform. It would mean getting rid of large swathes of office bodies and useless pen pushers and spending more money on actual workers. The NHS suffers from the same cancerous bloated bureacracy. There is something to say for good management of course - good management, not sh1t management. The last to go will, as in most cases, be those that should have gone first.
