Not a lot of hot water ..

All the components in the system seem to be ok - boiler, pump, valve etc but there is never a lot of hot water available. At most one hottish bath can be drawn but thats it, then have to wait hours for the water to heat up. The plumbing etc is over 20 years old which probably wont help but any ideas what to check?
