Hi, I have a "solid" oak table I'd like to strip and refinish. Table is from Furniture Village, a few years old and finished in the original lacquer finish. I say solid in inverted commas as the main structure is solid oak, then covered in oak veneers.

I know that sanding alone will run a risk of blowing through the veneer, so I'm thinking of using a stripper in the first instance, following by sanding with a very fine sandpaper once that's done.

Does anyone have any examples of doing this successfully? Any recommendations for a stripping product?

Why do you think that is veneered?

It looks solid to me.

At a guess it may be sprayed on wax.

Sorry I should have shared the link to the table directly from the shop. It says in the description that its solid oak with oak veneers on top. Any thoughts or words of wisdom?
