Please help, my new oak worktop I put the oil on with a paint brush. The instructions said apply and I did not realise that I should put it on with a lint free cloth. It is now a mess and looks worse in the light as all you can see is shading. I have tried sanding it with sandpaper but it still looks shaded and not even. Any advice. Thanks

Try a small area with 000 wire wool and a little white spirit. , in direction of grain only.
