Hi there

I've just fitted my blocked oak worktop and oiled it using Ronseal worktop oil but after 5 days of oil, leave, wipe, oil ...... i find that after putting anything wet on it the wood is discoloured and the grain is raised!

Not sure what i could have done wrong i have followed the instructions very closely!!

Can anyone suggest what i might be doing wrong or suggest a better oil
i have read some positive reviews of Liberon Finishing Oil....

Thanks
M

Hi..

I've always used Danish Oil on oak. Goes on easily with a cloth or brush, and a couple of coats is all you need. The clear really brings out the colour of the wood.

I have a basin mounted in a large piece of oak in the main bath/shower room and it hasn't stained in over 3 years of use. All I do is give it a quick light sand and wipe over every 6 months or so.

Hope this helps.
