Odd question about blue loo discs

This is a ridiculous question but the only place I can think to ask! Do blue loo discs not last as long as they used to? Mine seem to last just over a week at most and as i work full time I'm not a prolific flusher.

What am I missing? I've tried putting one at either end of the cistern but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Is there anything someone can recommend to keep the water blue/fresh for longer? I'm trying to go down the no-plastic route so don't want anything - well, plastic.

Don't put anything into the cistern other than water, and help save the planet by not buying such pointless things as those that colour water in a toilet.

Do they still contain bleach which can rot rubber seals and over time cause leaks like they used too.

Plenty of the blue ones are just colour. Their main purpose is to stain the inside of the cistern and highlight any small cracks in the glaze so you then have to buy a new toilet.

Some contain bleach, but it's a very expensive way of buying it.

Try replacing a syphon with a cistern that has had a blue disc in, you will look like a Smurf for 3 days and thats with bleaching my hands.
