Odd sound alarm. Company says alarm is s**t.

Hi guys

I have a setup as follows

* Accenta / Optima control panel
* Citadel Defender II external box

Recently our alarm went off and the control panel has an Engineer Reset message. I'm not sure what the cause was but we put in the Engineer code and it was accepted.

All seemed well....

..for about 15 minutes until the external box starts making a chirping / high pitched sound.

This is not the normal ringing sound the alarm would make when it goes off but rather a second sound.

This happens even when the alarm is unset.

Wondering if anyone had any idea what the issues are.

I did call an alarm company and they said they won't deal with these systems as they're basically a piece of s*it...which is news to me!

It's always (in my experience) corrosion in the tamper switch in the bellbox.

Ditto corrosion of tamper switch. Had it on my old one many years ago. Went off initially after heavy rain so guess water got in then the same sounding sound on and off for weeks. In the end we disconnected and let the battery die. Moved out before I could replace it.
