Offsets or elbows when piping up basin

When piping up basins do people tend to offset the pipes to the no.62s or use 2 elbows close up to the top of the basin?

When I was on an electrical course we had to do swan-necks in metal conduit with a bender.
What's happening to all the old skills?

i've still got my springs 10,15 & 22mm.

My mate down in Bristol has got a 28mm spring but i've never seen it used :eek:
 
Most people tend to buy basin mixers these days which come supplied with flexis anyway.
