We've just moved into a house with an Efel oil burning stove which heats the hot water & supposedly the radiators. We have 6 radiators & the pipe work is microbore. The trouble is it doesn't heat the radiators very well. We have had the stove serviced/cleaned & the radiators are luke warm at best when you have the burner at a medium & high level (3-4 & 5-6). We were hoping to run the burner at a low level (1-2) to save on oil cost but the radiators are cold at that level.

We have met the people who lived in our house 11 years ago & they said the heating was fine even at a low level. Does anyone think the microbore would be blocked with limescale/sludge and stopping the water going through or could it just be our oil burning stove isn't up to the job anymore ? A plumber has suggested we should consider changing to a modern oil fired boiler & that it is unlikely to be a blockage in the pipes but we would really like a cheaper solution. Are there any DIY ways to clean the pipes in this type of system so we can see if that is the problem before forking out for a new boiler ?

Is the pump working.?
Have you tried winding it up to full speed. ?

Speak to Euroheat. They may know someone in your area who can deal with it. If it worked once, changing to a conventional is unlikely to cure the problem.

yes the pump is working & if we put the stiove up to full heat the radiators are still luke warm. We spoke to Euroheat & they said that the stoves aren't really designed for heating that many radiators but we said it was working before & they were a bit stumped. Someone has suggested draining the system & putting Fernox limescale remover in the cold water tank that feeds the heating system then refilling the system forcing the liquid round. Worth trying ? Thanks for your help.
