Old ceiling coming away

M

marsaday

I have added a new set of stairs to my house for the attic conversion and where they sit i had to remove an old wall which was tyed into the main joist and the ceiling below (pic inc).

I have placed a board up to stop the plaster coming right off, but i wondered if i could just screw some PB screws through to hold the plaster and lathe in place.

I will be plaster boarding the joist and stairs today.

Alternatley i will take back the section of ceiling to the first joist and replace with new BP.

What do you think will be best ?

i have done it now and cut out a channel of the old plaster about 10cm deep. I have screwed through the plaster behind this and up into the lathe to stop any more sagging.

I have filled in the 10cm wide strip with board and it will now need filling with bonding + skim.

All in all it looks good and i am pleased.
