Hi guys,

The cloakroom toilet in our new place is circa 1978 and has a porcelain waste pipe that comes straight out of the back of the toilet and down into the floor.

I assume the black bit in the photos below is the actual waste pipe, but there's no obvious joint between the toilet and the waste pipe - in fact they look like they are all one thing.

So my questions are, how should I remove it? Is it just a sledgehammer job? If so, how do I connect the new toilet to this waste?

Thanks!
Andy

the black bit is the waste and the grey bit is a cement joint, basically you will have to break the pan out, take care not to get cut and not to get any bits of the china down the waste as that will be a disaster, the chances of breaking the cement without breaking the pan are slim, however one technical way is to "gently" knock the pan side to side with the sole of your boot to loosen it up, once its out and the joint is cleaned out (gloves and bag down the waste!!!!!!!) you want a McAlpine Multikwik connector to go between the pan and the waste
