Want to change existing stairs to open 'non riser' type. Have found 1 company on web that sells them. Know of any other companies, or can I buy the parts and build it myself.
I know I can get a joiner to it but I'd like to keep costs down.

Is it a lot more expensive to have the stairs built to order? A custom made set should fit quite easily whereas an off the shelf set may need a lot of work to make fit - particularly with any turns etc.
You may find a local joinery firm who specialise in stairs who could custom build them at a reasonable price. Yellow Pages?

keep in mind that to comply with Building Regulations, you cannot have any openings more than 100mm (open rise?)
