opening for a log burner

I want to put a log burner in a recess of a chimney in a 3 bedroom semi detached house in the back lounge, the specs for the burner are 6.22KW size 400W x 359D x 595H what gap either side and the back of the log burner are permissible please?

Check out Part J of the building regs (downloadable with a search on google). You also need to make sure the chimney is suitable for solid fuel use, and there is a constructional hearth and/or normal hearth.

6.22Kw is a pretty big burner; what is the size of the room. You need to check the manufacturers specifications on the log burner, to determine the clearances required, so what's the burner, and the size of the opening. Do you intend to install yourself
