I get orange spots when washing clothes. Please see photo. I think it is rust.

I’ve checked there’s no metal in the machine. I have also run a long wash with lemon juice. Neither have solved it.

I read power flushing is the answer to rust elsewhere in the system.

How can I tell if it’s the washing machine or if I need to to power flush?

Thanks

Powerflush will not help. Lemon will not help.

show the size of the spots. You're sure it's not curry?

Take out the pump filter and look for particles.

I fear it is the drum bearing. Usually this leaves grease marks first.

Take off the fill hose, there should be a mesh filter at the tap end. If rust is coming from the pipes there will be particles.

Do you get rust particles from any other taps? If not, it is either your machine, or filings in the clothes, e.g. if there is a metalworker in the house.
