Hello Everyone,

one of the copper pipes on my outdoor shower had a leak and I had to replace it. The problem is that I cannot get the new pipe to solder on the 90 degree elbow. everytime I heat up the elbow I get water bubbling up.
How can I get rid of the water so I can solder the new pipe?

thanks

Wet and dry vac or venting if possible.
Pipe needs to be dry or you have no chance :(

Once a pipe has had water in it, it is very difficult to get it dry enough to solder. you have to get it completely dry thoughout the length of pipe that will get hot. You may do better to use a compression fitting.

If you can open the pipe at the other end you may be able to blow it dry with compressed air or even a vacuum cleaner.

If the pipe goes to an open end you can plug it with a piece of bread...Rye if you like ;) .This will keep the water @ bay long enough then wash out thru` the open end when you turn on again  PS do you guys really call the "sink" in your "bathroom" a Lavatory :?: .......May not seem it but all this post is serious, not a wind up.

thanks for the advice guys.

We do call it a sink here in the states. Never heard anyone refer to it as the lavatory.

Simple trick to remove the water before soldering is to push a length of thin rubber or plastic tube down the pipe and suck out the water.

Is the outdoor shower for the pool, the dog or are you a cowboy who has to take a shower before you are allowed indoors?
