Basically I want to copy all the email folders to a CD

It sez ere
To compact and back up e-mail folders

Select an e-mail folder.
On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Compact.

Ok, Done.,
To back up the folder, find the folder file
What does that mean? How could I have lost it?
and then copy it
HOW?

to a backup folder, floppy disk, or network drive. Outlook Express e-mail folders have a .dbx extension (for example, "Sent Items.dbx").

Can't drag them anywhere, can't copy and paste...???

Outlook express files are held (by default) in C:\Documents and Settings\SOME USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\SOME KEY\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

where SOME USER is your account and SOME KEY is a generated keyname.

Copy the last folder or it's contents to your backup location.

You will need to enable the "show hidden files" option to see them. Post if you don't know what I mean

Thanks Ig. Found them, not too compact (3GB).
I don't see anything like an incremental archive facility- seems a bit primitive?

You could install some backup software that writes to tape or disk and add this folder to the job. You could even use Windows own software (START>RUN>ntbackup)
