Kev, you need to post your incoming and outgoing server settings (not passwords tho ;) ), also any error message you get when you try to send. Have you been able to send email previously? (i.e. has something changed?)

your name............kev

e mail [email protected]

incoming mail server (pop3):......pop.ntlworld.com

outgoing mail server (smtp).......smtp.ntlworld.com

username................................kev.plumb

my outgoing server smtp requires authentication .is checked

log onto incoming mail server before sending mail ........is checked

connect using LAN...... is checked

incoming server port 110

outgoing server port 25

ssl not checked on either port

error message

task'pop.ntlworld-sendin reported error(0x800ccc67):'the server responded:confused: 1 aamtaout02-winn.ispmail.ntl.com connection refused from[75.143.174.41]'

You've got a dumb american ISP, congrats. Then again, in this case it's good for you.

Enable SSL for both incoming and outgoing, port 995 for POP3 and 465 for SMTP.

ok done that now i get

error 0x800ccc67the server responded

1aamtaut04winn.isp.mail.ntl.com connection refused from 75.143.147.41

edit the ports have gone back to 110 and 25

Ah, that's a pain, they refuse connection unless you're on NTL (well, Virgin these days).

Charter should provide an SMTP server, you should be able to use that (with your Virgin email address but Charter login details).

Kev, C&W/Ntl/Virgin or whatever they are calling themselves this week have been F******g about with their servers for weeks now and have caused so many problems its unreal!
did you update your email box when told to? (last 2 months) as everyone has had to update their settings if using outlook (luckily i don't!!)

go to virginmedia site front page and follow the link on there.

hope this helps

kev

Changing his settings isn't really going to help when the server refuses his connection before any of them can be used!
