Hi - I stupidly put the wrong bulb in the lower oven. it blew of course, tripping the consumer unit.

now the lower oven won't work (no lighting up of the button interface thing that shows lower oven setting/temp). upper oven still works.

Oven is a john lewis (Zannussi?). Is there an inbuilt fuse in the side light of the oven? will replacing the whole light fitting get it working again? it seems unlikely the lower oven needs the ligth at all to work. so maybe there's a fuse elsewhere for the lower oven?

any advice will be much appreciated.

thanks

john

ok, so the Mrs's is bored of using just the top oven now.

Do you think replacing the main element will work?

are the service plan people any good/trustworthy for fixing oven?

bit torn between getting it fixed of putting that money towards a new one.

They would soon be out of business if they weren't. If it is Zanussi then it would probably be an Electrolux agent who I have always found to be pretty good. Ask for an estimate before they come out.

Finally got the service engineer out to fix this.
The motherboard had blown (part known as an xbox apparently). As it was made by a now bankrupt factory it's no longer available.
So new oven required. It was pretty rubbish anyway so it's not such bad news.
