Hi folks, quick one for you. The guy who fitted our interior doors last year has planed a bit too much from one end of a door (maybe 3-4mm deep, and 7-8 cm long), so the gap is noticeably bigger at that opint than the rest of the door.

I'm pretty handy with filler (from my car repair days), and am confident I could build up a square edge, sand it and paint it so it looks perfect, but I'm no expert on the expansion properties of wood.

Would most wood fillers provide the necessary expansion properties, or would it likely just end up cracking and looking worse?

I have used P38 filler which is suitable for wood (check the label first) from the car accessory shop :!: works for me with no problem, you can build it up quite thick, might need to drill a few holes to key the filler into it and it's easy sanding but dusty. I'm assuming the door will be painted

Yeah it'll be painted, just haven't got around to it as there's soooooo much to do in here lol.

Drilling some holes to key the filler into - great idea, I would have probably forgotten this and it would have fell off the first time the door was slammed shut lol!

....saves me doing it twice lol.
