There can be may reasons why the paint has cracked or crazed in the kitchen...the prime one being painting over grease or a contaminated surface..next is painting over a shiny surface like gloss with an emulsion paint, which isnt very flexible and cant adhere to the shiny gloss fiinish...some vinyl silks dont accept emulsion over them for the same reason..

We would need a bit more inforeally before anyone could comment on the cause...like what was you painting over.

Behind what?

You could try an oil based undercoat of the walls first..then emulsion over them
