Hi,

I've got brick chimney work in my loft which I am tidying up.

Not a full conversion but having a velux window installed and also fancyhing painting the brick work in either white or magnolia to lighten the space.

What can I put on the brick work to seal before painting ? will PVA do the trick ?

What's the best paint to use ?

Thanks.

If the brickwork is sound and dry and all dust removed there is no need to seal it first. PVA will not be suitable anyway. Use a good quality masonry paint, thin the first coat to get it on as the brickwork will be very dry being in the loft all those years.
