Hello - can someone advise me please? We currently have vinyl wallpaper on plasterboard walls, which we put up several years ago. I now want to revert to painted walls and thought that if I peeled off the vinyl part ( a practice piece has come off well), the paper backing would act like a lining paper that I could emulsion over. Having looked at a Dulux website for painting tips, it says that the backing should be completely stripped off too! I really can't face that - it's a big room and Christmas is coming all too quickly! Is it worth a try? Thanks!

the backing paper should come off relevantly easily with when soaked with water. the vinyl is the hardest part to strip!

Well painting over the backing paper is and has been done with good result, yet I am not a fan of doing such. I really would consider it's removal.
