Hi all, I've recently bought a house, the lady's father built the staircase 40 years ago. My process for pre paint prep was..
Sand with 100 grit, lower grit for old stubborn drips etc. Then 180 to smooth it. In parts the original pine is coming through, in others layers of paint is coming off.
I have sanded as best as I can (deffo had some latex emulsion on, as she told me it's great).
Obviously this is washing off with sugar soap, I have then rinsed and dried.
I'm concerned it's not going to go well when I paint. I'm planning on Johnson trade paint, in satin.
Is this paint a good choice to go over it and hopefully be hard-wearing enough to disguise some flaws in previous paint?
Or is there anything else, which anyone would do differently? Thanks, Sarah
