Afternoon peeps, wife wants door thresholds(3) painted gloss white. Looks like they have been previously stained.

Is this a good idea in a heavy traffic area? What's the best type of paint to use if i do it & what preparation is needed. Sand stain off completely or will an undercoat seal it?

Many thanks

Be prepared for having to touch it up frequently unless you can find a decent floor paint that you can use on wood.
When stained wood begins to fade/scuff it doesn't show up as badly as when paint does.

I agree with @conny . If you are happy to regularly touch up the white paint, find a tin of decent white floor paint. I don't think you will find a small tin though.

If people only wear socks in the house, it should last quite a while though.

Thats the rule in our house. Shoes off at the front door and slippers or stockinged feet. Even though we currently live in rented accommodation, we believe in looking after it as though it were our own.
