i have just had my downstairs area plastered and am about to paint when the plaster dries. i want a brilliant white silk finish and was wondwering if
i should go to wickes,b&q or find a shop which just sells paint.
also should i use a cheap paint as undercoat or good paint.

the experts will be here later probably.

usually this is how it works

scrape walls (do not sand)
matt white watered down 30% (mist coat) (looks crap)
sand down (not with rough sand paper)
2nd coat
3rd coat

do not put silk on until the final coat, BTW most people finish off in matt paint, silk shows off any imperfections.
